97-99 opened in September 1997. Under the Directorship of Alfred Camp, the gallery has matured internationally, showing emerging artists from North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. With the new millennium comes a new name as we continue to expand beyond the UK. From 2001 the gallery will become the 'Alfred Camp Gallery'. The new millennium brings more than just a new image. The gallery will be seeking to further its international reputation through overseas projects, participation in art fairs and touring programmes. Things to look out for include 'Made in Japan', an exhibition of New Japanese Sculpture, and 'The Gallery has been completely vandalised', a touring show with attitude that may be coming to a gallery near you. The last three years have been very eventful, sometimes difficult, but always rewarding. Under the new guise the Alfred Camp gallery will continue to veer away from established paths, remaining open to change but without losing focus. The new name and image signifying a fresh start unencumbered by the conventions of others. Alfred Camp Director
