| 97-99
is contemporary art gallery based in Shoreditch, East London. The gallery
promotes the work of new and established contemporary artists through its
yearly exhibition programmes, publishing, and via the internet.
Since opening in 1997, the gallery has been at the vanguard of East London's art scene, showing a variety of British and International artists, many showing for the first time in the UK. 97-99 currently runs two exhibition programmes; Brief Encounters , launched in 1997, is the only programme in the UK dedicated to promoting new artists, offering graduates their first solo shows in London. The aim of the programme is to highlight the diversity of current practice from painting to installation. The programme has been particularly successful in showing artists from areas overlooked by the London art world. |

| Fresh paint began in 1998 to focus on contemporary painting, showing a mixture of new graduates and established artists from the UK and abroad. New programmes include ICE, a series of public art installations featuring British and international artists. In the future this website will feature documentation of the gallery's programme including live video and sound, and we will be working with artists to produce work exclusively for this site. If you want to know more about any of the programmes mentioned above you can contact the gallery at info@alfredcamp.com |
